Elvis the Way it Was are back at the Electric Picnic this weekend when we take to the Trailer Park stage for the lunchtime slot, or breakfast time for festival goers, at 2.05pm on Sunday.
We love the Trailer Park stage having played there consistently every second year for the last 8 years. Situated in a crazy little corner on the right hand side of the main gate, it is made up of an enclave of containers, cabins and installations surrounding the stage itself.
This show promises to be even more special this year as we gear up towards the full 68 Special show in December by putting in a few new songs to get your dancing feet moving for Sunday at the Picnic. All 13 of us will squeeze up onto the stage and bash out an Elvis shaped racket for an hour to wipe the sleep from your eyes and get you ready for the day ahead.
And if you fancy it we will be back again at the Trailer Park later that evening for a soiree in Cathy Davy’s ‘My Lovely Ranch’ at 7pm. Can’t make any promises on how many of the band are still standing at that stage but sure come along and find out!
So if you are one of the lucky ones with tickets to this year’s picnic, why not set your alarm for 1.30pm and head on down to the Trailer Park for some serenading from the great Elvis songbook!
We are delighted to announce that tickets are now available for a special one off concert fundraiser this December. The show is titled “Elvis 68 Comeback Special” and will be at Dublin’s National Stadium this December 3rd. Marking 50 years since the first broadcast of Elvis’ TV Special Kevin and the Way it Was Orchestra will recreate all the sights and sounds of the original show. All profits from this fundraiser will equally benefit the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation and Shine on Eabha. Tickets onsale now at ticketmaster outlets nationwide and online at ticketmaster.ie PHOTO: Mark Stedman
We’ve been trying to get back online in a meaningful way and what better way to that than by embracing Instagram. Finally a place where we can share our favourite pics of us, Elvis, you, whoever!
Our plan, if we can actually say we have one, is to use this account as a place where we can also build up an archive of some of the more memorable moments over the years. Shows, TV appearances, rehearsals and of course meeting and performing with some of Elvis’ own band members, notably the TCB Band, the Jordaniares and Charlie Hodge.
But there’s more. If you have any images related to Elvis, or from one of our shows, or you just think we might be interested, please send it over to us. Simply reach out to us on social media with a hashtag (#kevindoyle #wayitwasorchestra) and, if it’s worthy of sharing, we will share it.
In the meantime, why not pop across to our Instagram account and if you like what you see let us know! Visit our account »
